Ingredients
- 1+1/2 cup chana dal (split bengal gram)
- 3 tsp. garlic paste
- 2 tsp. ginger paste
- 2 tsp green chilly paste
- 1 tsp. mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric pwd
- 1/4 tsp. asafoetida
- 4 tsp. oil(usually 1 cup oil is used)
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. sesame seeds
- salt to taste
- 1 cup fine sev(nylon sev)
- 2 tsp. coriander leaves finely chopped
Directions
- Soak chana dal for 4-5 hrs
- Drain water and grind it to a coarse paste (more like Idli). Add little water if required.
- In a non stick pan heat oil, add mustard seeds. After splutter add asafoetida, add 1/4 cup water + ginger, garlic and chilly paste and turmeric pwd and salt. Mix it well.
- Add ground chana dal, mix and cook on a low flame, covered.
- When it is cooked properly add sugar , sesame seeds and 2 tb. coriander leaves mix well. At the and add lemon juice mix and take out in a serving bowl.
